Cruz Battery Metals Acquires the Central Clayton Valley Lithium Brine Project in Nevada Completely Surrounded by SLB’s Property

Cruz Battery Metals Corp. (CSE: CRUZ) has announced its intention to acquire the 580-acre Central Clayton Valley Lithium Brine Project in Esmeralda County, Nevada. This acquisition expands Cruz’s operational footprint in the promising lithium-rich area to a total of 820 acres. Crucially, this new project is strategically located adjacent to SLB’s (previously Schlumberger Limited) significant lithium brine holdings. The deal, still pending necessary regulatory approvals, is set against a backdrop of increasing demand for domestic lithium sources fueled by a resurgence in electric vehicle (EV) production and a political push toward reducing foreign reliance in the U.S.

James Nelson, President of Cruz, expressed optimism about the acquisition, noting several factors that could elevate the project’s value. The Central Clayton Valley project is positioned near the basin’s deepest section, known for its lithium brine resources. Recent developments from SLB, which has reached a milestone in its collaboration with Pure Energy Ltd., further bolster confidence in the area’s potential. The successful direct lithium extraction (DLE) methods being employed signal a promising outlook for the project.

This acquisition coincides with a shift in consumer and market behavior towards electric vehicles, highlighted by figures from CNBC indicating that new energy vehicles constituted over half of car sales in China in mid-2025. GM’s reported growth—in particular, a 125% increase in electric vehicle sales over the past year—exemplifies a broader trend toward electrification that is also affecting U.S. markets.

Growing Interest in Domestic Lithium Sources
As nationwide EV sales gain momentum, there is a growing sentiment around domestic production capabilities. Nelson emphasized that recent trends showcase a strengthening market for electric vehicles despite prior skepticism towards lithium and EVs. He believes that U.S. lithium projects will garner increased attention and interest from investors in 2025.

Partnering for Progress: SLB’s Advancements
The partnership between Pure Energy and SLB is notable for its focus on sustainable lithium extraction methods. This partnership, which has been cultivating resources since 2019, saw SLB achieve critical benchmarks that justified their full ownership of the Clayton Valley lithium brine project. The completion of a pilot plant for direct lithium extraction indicates the viability and potential scalability of lithium mining operations in the region.

Cruz Battery Metals is optimistic about its long-term prospects, especially with an exciting year ahead in 2025. Between their varied projects in Nevada, such as the Solar Lithium Project and the Idaho Cobalt Belt Project, Cruz aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for battery metals crucial for EV production.

The acquisition of the Central Clayton Valley Lithium Brine Project represents an important step for Cruz as they align with the shifting dynamics of the lithium market and the growing importance of sustainable resource management. As battery technology continues to evolve, the focus on domestic supply chains will likely play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the electric vehicle industry.

Investors and stakeholders are encouraged to stay connected with Cruz for ongoing updates on project developments, as the company navigates this crucial period in the battery metals sector.

James Nelson, as President and CEO, remains committed to leveraging opportunities in the expanding EV market, presenting a compelling case for Cruz’s strategic direction in the years to come.
