Even rockier 2026?; Your last chance for a ONE-ON-ONE Visit!

Greetings, Investors! As I wrote to you on New Year’s Day, I already expected that 2026 was going to bring us more volatility and more of a two-way market for most asset classes.

And on top of all the considerations leading to that (stay tuned for my two-part 2026 tutorial this week!), we now have a major new ingredient on the geopolitical, energy and security front, in President Trump’s effectively turning Venezuela into a territory/protectorate of the U.S. over the weekend.

Needless to say, everyone with a laptop or a smart phone has “expertly” weighed in on this since yesterday morning (and I use the term sarcastically and loosely.)

Most comments are as ignorant of all the facts as they are partisan.

Those of you who follow me on social media (ANOTHER REMINDER…LINKS BELOW!) have already seen several contributions by Yours truly, so I’ll dispense with all those now…except for what I deem the most realistic and insightful one you can read RIGHT HERE.

Those comments by Dr. Cristina Martin Jemenez cut through emotions and partisanship to outline just what happened with the capture of Maduro (who, lest you’d forgotten, had a price put on his head prior by both Presidents Obama and Biden, the latter of whom RAISED the bounty before leaving office) and effective annexation of Venezuela as a U.S., well, whatever (this is too serious and complex a situation for even Trump to joke about Venezuela beating Canada to “51st State” status.)

Far from the more hysterical ravings about Trump being a loose cannon, dictator, impulsive, etc., this move has been in the planning stages for YEARS. Indeed, a retired career Marine and now a member of federal law enforcement I am especially close to commented yesterday that this was in the planning stages for a good 10 years.

And Dr. Martin Jemenez neatly and dispassionately lays out the many calculations and, quite possibly, bargains with other affected parties that were in the works leading up to Friday night’s move.

Read this carefully.

Beyond all the politicking back and forth as well as associated Doomsday warnings over this (most of which, per usual, are probably exaggerated “click bait”) there is one angle of this and other potential hotter wars that concerns me.

And that is, war has always proven to be a convenient scapegoat to hide other domestic political and/or economic problems.

In my first podcast of the New Year I’ll be recording quickly later today (this subject postponed what I’d planned just a bit!) I’ll give an especially stark reminder.

Beyond that, in ways we don’t yet know, this will–as opined above–create even more of a topsy-turvy environment as 2026 gets underway in earnest this week.

FURTHER, as I’ll be discussing especially with our Members in now necessarily needing to rethink some sectors especially, President Trump doing now with oil what he did earlier this year with a key industrial metal is going to upend a LOT of peoples’ suppositions about what “America First” really means when it comes to natural resources.
