Wake-up Call for Markets, Economy on Several Fronts; Will Pope Leo XIV Seize History’s Moment?
Greetings Investors! Join me in the latest updates from the market. Will Pope Leo XIV seize history’s moment? As the calendar hit August and Summertime shifted to its downhill side the markets faced several quick jolts this past week that, combined, likely ended the recent bull run for stocks…at least for the near term.
** We went from Wednesday–when Fed Chairman “Fire Marshall Jay” Powell (otherwise known as “Numbskull” or “Moron” to the president who put him in that role)–threw cold water even on the idea of a September rate cut…
** …To Thursday’s ratcheting up of tariffs by President Trump on several fronts…
** …To yesterday’s abysmal employment (or lack thereof) report for July, containing such significant downgrades to the prior couple reports as to prompt a “You’re Fired!” from the president to the Biden appointee ostensibly most in charge of compiling said numbers.
And for good measure, this all at week’s end not only put a rate cut by September’s F.O.M.C. meeting right back on the table, but as well brought several musings about a second successive September 50-basis point cut.
Of course, last September, lest you’d forgotten (at least to hear one Donald J. Trump talk about it) Fire Marshall Jay was willing to pull off such an outsized rate cut when it meant helping President Biden.
As we always do post-Fed, Michael Fox of The Prospector Podcast and I sat down yesterday to wrap it all (and then some!) up for you RIGHT HERE.
And we further wrap up all those events and related news into, as we close this PACKED “long form” discussion, the market/portfolio management thesis and decision-making all of this will be prompting.

Back on Monday, for those who missed it live, I joined Drew Mariani on his show on Relevant Radio for the full final hour of his nationwide broadcast; the replay is RIGHT HERE.
Drew and I took a somewhat “higher-level” view of the markets, economy, our monetary system and more; again, in the context of all the recent economic news and such.
More so, we ended (a theme on which we’re working to come up with a regular series on such topics–stay tuned!) by discussing some very poignant observations regarding Pope Leo XIV’s seeming take on our volatile world; one coming to a catharsis on more than simply monetary and economic issues.
Especially if you want to know how to understand all this volatility and such in the context of a Christian as well as a consumer or investor, you’ll want to pay close attention!
As always, I welcome your comments and questions.
All the best,
