Q Precious & Battery Metals Corp. (QMET) Extends Nova Scotia Natural Hydrogen Discovery with Results up to 1,840 ppm
Hydrogen Exploration Expands Promising Zones in Nova Scotia
Halifax, Nova Scotia—(Newsfile Corp. – August 21, 2025)—Q Precious & Battery Metals Corp. (CSE: QMET) (OTC Pink: BTKRF) (FSE: 0NB) has unveiled outstanding results from its latest soil gas sampling in the Apple River-Shulie-Sandy corridor. Recent tests have revealed remarkable hydrogen concentrations, peaking at 1,840 ppm, with further notable values of 1,042 ppm to 1,247 ppm. This latest data, derived from an additional 200 samples taken to the north and east of previously identified zones, underscores an expansion of multiple high-grade "hot zones" in this highly sought-after exploration corridor.
Understanding the Exploration Context
The current hydrogen exploration initiative has successfully concluded preliminary sampling on QMET’s northernmost licensed area, situated 2 km south of Joggins at the Cumberland Basin’s edge. The sampling program was supplemented by additional tests on previously assessed lines, enhancing the dataset’s reliability and depth.
The geological characteristics observed in the southern part of the Cumberland Basin highlight fault structures that appear less pronounced in the northern licensed areas. Previous seismic reflection data indicates significant underlying structures that are presently obscured. Analysis suggests that the extensive evaporitic-salt formation at the Windsor Group’s base has given rise to expansive synclines, interspersed with narrow anticlines formed by salt or thrust faults. Notably, unconformities detected at the base of younger Cumberland Group units suggest complex dynamics that could influence the diffusive flow of hydrogen gas, warranting further investigation in future sampling efforts.
High-Grade Hydrogen Samples Enhance Exploration Potential
The expanded sampling program uncovered 15 new samples exceeding 500 ppm hydrogen. This reinforces the substantial potential of the discovery and validates the exploration strategy established by QMET’s partner, Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (QIMC), in collaboration with the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS).
Insights from Leadership
Richard Penn, CEO of QMET, commented on the unfolding developments: “These exceptional results reveal the extension of our hydrogen-rich zones, showcasing some of the highest grades recorded. The Apple River-Shulie-Sandy corridor consistently surpasses our expectations, strengthening the case for a clean, large-scale natural hydrogen system. Our collaborative efforts with QIMC and INRS will continue as we push toward drill-ready targets.”
Strategic Next Steps
The fresh data acquired will be integral in refining QMET’s exploration model, leading to prioritized targets for in-depth subsurface testing and future programs. This ongoing focus on hydrogen resources positions Nova Scotia as a pivotal component of QMET’s clean natural hydrogen strategy.
Moreover, QMET is committed to the responsible development of clean hydrogen resources and takes pride in its partnerships with QIMC and INRS, as they collectively navigate the evolving landscape of sustainable energy in both Quebec and Nova Scotia.
