NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of Cipla(up 5.4 per cent), Lupin(up 4.68 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 4.24 per cent), Abbott India(up 4.23 per cent) and Laurus(up 3.98 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Granules India(down 3.83 per cent) and Gland Pharma(down 0.67 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 3.08 per cent up at 12750.7.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 194.0 points at 17816.25, while the BSE Sensex stood up 578.51 points at 59719.74.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 ended in the green, while 6 closed in the red.
